Yin Yoga
Slow, meditative practice with long-held poses for deep tissue release and stillness.
Yin Yoga is the practice of doing less, slowly, and on purpose. Poses are typically held for three to five minutes, allowing the body's deep connective tissues — fascia, ligaments, and joint capsules — to release in a way that more dynamic practice can't reach. Yin is meditation in shape. Eileen completed her 45-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in January 2025 with Justin Westbrook (My Yoga Continuing Education) and brings that careful, principled approach to every class. Especially supportive for high-Pitta and high-Vata constitutions who run hot, fast, or anxious.
Duration
60 minutes per class
Format
Live group classes over Zoom. Eileen will pause periodically to describe what to feel and what to ignore.
Who it's for
Anyone who works long hours at a desk, runs hot, lives in their head, or wants to add a softer counterweight to a more vigorous Hatha or Kundalini practice. Especially helpful for those with chronic tension, poor sleep, or anxiety.
What to Expect
What happens in a yin yoga session?
- A short grounding to arrive on your mat
- A sequence of 5–8 floor-based postures held 3–5 minutes each
- Verbal cues for breath and softening, but mostly quiet
- Optional bolsters, blocks, and blankets to support each shape
- A long savasana to integrate the practice
How to Prepare
What should you bring?
- A yoga mat
- At least one bolster or thick folded blanket
- Two yoga blocks (or thick books)
- An eye pillow or small towel (optional but recommended)
- Comfortable, layered clothing — your body cools down significantly in stillness
Outcomes
What you walk away with
- Greater hip, low-back, and shoulder mobility over weeks of practice
- Markedly better sleep on class days
- A reset for the parasympathetic nervous system
- Tools to slow yourself down on demand
